Heather Whaling is a CEO, board member and investor on a mission to positively impact her community through intentional actions, reciprocal relationships, and rewriting the rules (when necessary).
After launching Geben Communication in 2009, Heather’s data-driven approach to communication helped the firm evolve into an award-winning communications agency with a team of 25+ focused on PR and digital marketing. Most recently, she was included in Ragan’s 2025 Top Women in Communication. In 2020, Forbes named Geben one of America’s best PR agencies. As a board member and investor, Heather applies her entrepreneurial mindset to mission-driven organizations, infusing bold ideas that spark impact. Deeply committed to economic self-sufficiency for women, Heather has served on multiple nonprofit boards, including The Women's Fund of Central Ohio, which she chaired from March 2020 to June 2022. Under her leadership, The Women’s Fund launched the Enduring Progress Initiative, a first-of-its kind fund in Central Ohio to invest in nonprofits run by women of color. A former EY Entrepreneur of the Year (Ohio Valley Region), Heather is a vocal advocate for paid family leave and other innovative workplace policies and has been featured in NPR, Entrepreneur.com, CNN.com, and Wall Street Journal.
